Ever wondered about some of life's paradoxes? For instance, if you want to feel comfortable, you have to let go of some comforts. Thinking too much about comfort makes you attached to it... Makes you fear you may lose it... What a joy to know that true comfort, true contentment, is a state of being that is created inside, not outside.

Sit in the stillness of your soul power.

Center for Spiritual Learning, Tagaytay

27, 28, 29 December 4PM Sun - 4PM Tue 3 Days Solace for the Soul: Raja Yoga Meditation Intensives

We all have three eyes. Two for looking out and one for looking in. Why would we want to look in when the whole of the world seems to be "looking out"? When everything seems to be happening "out there"? Because the treasure we seek to discover is inside, not outside. Take a moment to stop. Don't rush. Don't search. Just look in. And see what there is all to see.

90 Minutes of Mindful Moments
10 to 11:30 AM
Wednesdays and Thursdays

It is when we silence the chattering of our mind that we can truly hear what is in oour heart. And find the stillness, the clarity and purity that lies within the soul. Spiritual silence carries us into the silence of our original state of being. This silence contains the power to create harmony in all our relationship and the sweetness to sustain all of them. This silence allows us to sit God in our heart, filling us with the kind of peace, love and power we have missed for so long.

Irresistible Leadership

"Ir
resistible leadership comes from the belief that we can do something about our situation and improve our own lives. It is also taking responsibility for our own actions."

Marides Fernando, now mayor of Marikina for six years, says her leadership is anchored on the belief that people can choose to do something about their situation and take action to improve their own lives.

As a leader, she presents a vision to the people, gives them direction and sets them an example. She also tries to improve the character of the people, empowering them so that they become responsible for their own actions. When people perform their tasks and play their roles with the best possible effort, they themselves serve as inspiration.

"Everyday, I learn something new. The amount of character development and transformation in Marikina is the result of many years (only six, actually, but it seems so much more than that) of interacting with people and really getting to know them. What inspires me is the ability to make a difference in the lives of people. When you see people change, it gives you this feeling, this big thrill and satisfaction. That by itself is priceless."

What dreams may come

It is possible to rise from poverty and hopelessness, break through life's multi-level challenges and fulfill one's dreams. This is the experience that echoes in the story of each CFFI scholar.

The CFFI scholarship program provides life skills and motivational, personal and team effectiveness seminars, as well as special trainings like English proficiency. It also provides community support services, sustainable livelihood program for women, agricultural education and technical assistance, environment and proper waste management.

Time and Transformation

Like the cups of coffee in a mayonnaise jar,
we are called to realize which things
truly matter in our lives.
Recognizing where and
how we spend time can
be a step to a deeper transformation.

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle;
when 24 hours in a day are not enough;
remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee...

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in
front of him.

When the class began,
he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into
the jar.
He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the
jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table
and
poured the entirecontents into the jar,
effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided,
"I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things
--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your
favorite passions---
and if everything else was lost and only they remained;
your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter;
like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else---the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued,
"there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Play with your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your spouse out to dinner.
Play another 18.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first
--the things that really matter--

Set your priorities.
"The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee
represented.

The professor smiled.
"I'm glad you asked."

"It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem;
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend . "

About Dadi Hirdaya Mohini (Dadi Gulzar)

“Budget your time in the morning. Audit your time in the evening.: Life is a process of continuous learning. Problems teach us valuable lessons and make us progress. But often people blame others and try to change their job, house, partner or situations that they hold responsible for their misery. It is like running away from one examination hall to another, because if we fail to learn the lessons of life at a particular place or time, we will have to face the same tests again till we have learnt a positive lesson. When we face life with courage, humility and a positive attitude, we learn to change every challenge into an opportunity for success.
Purity, September 2004

Dadi Gulzar's Special Qualities

When she was only 16, Brahma Baba asked her to leave the headquarters and open a meditation centre in Lucknow. A combination of innocence, courage and humour characterise her story of travelling through India as a young girl, protected only by the conviction that God was guiding her life. That conviction has formed a personality of complete clarity and openness – she does not have the masks and defence mechanisms that most of us carry.

Dadi Gulzar’s Visions

Dadi Gulzar has a deep belief in human potential for the creation of a better world. From an early age she had divine visions of a future world where technology, together with social, economic and political structures, are in alignment with highest human values, and where harmony, peace and prosperity prevail. Her belief that this is the future of humanity has taken her to every continent of the world, where she speaks on the practical applications of meditation and spiritual values in everyday life. Dadi Gulzar is the Director of Brahma Kumaris centres in Delhi and Kashmir.
